I just answered you in the forum but for anyone else wondering, MIDI Guitar 2 and MIDI Guitar 3 differ in one important respect: MG3 uses the MPE protocol. That means that the way information is sent to virtual instruments via your DAW is different from plain legacy MIDI 1.0 (Like MG2 was) Every DAW seems to have its own solution to deal with this, and some (additional) steps are usually necessary to make it work. Not all DAWs even allow for MIDI to be forwarded from an Audio track FX, to begin with, and also there we had different solutions for different DAWs. So it is not as clear-cut as describing it as "as simple as MG2", I believe. MG3 is way more flexible, and only as complex as you allow for it to be. If you like to just load it as a plugin on an audio track, and use the MIDI GUiITAR MINI patch, it is practically the same thing as MG2. Different DAWs have different issues, and where some can use both AU and VST, others might just be able to use one or the other. The thing we need to do is to set up correctly and choose the environment that suits our needs the best.

Hi George! I do a lot of demoing products related to MIDI Guitar, but I don't play other people's songs very often. I don't have a great repertoire, and for the purpose of getting to know what software like MIDI Guitar can do, it is probably best if you download the demo for yourself. It is free to do, and also gives you a better understanding than listening to me butcher some poor song with my bad playing. No presets at this (early) point. Try stuff like Surge XT. Lots of interesting presets and MPE too. I have no knowledge of any Linux expansion plans. I am just telling the PC/windows community there is a version for them as well. I don’t know anything else. Sorry!

I don’t have such a video at this point, I am afraid. There are some snippets of information in the video about ”MIDI Guitar 3 , Kontakt and MPE” though. And to you other question, MG2 and MG3 are separate software obviosly, but there will be an option in MG3 to ”Import MG2 patches”. But that hinges on it being possible to use every MIDI Machine too from MG2, which I believe is a work on progress.

Well, it is probably some time away, considering that it must go via the App Store. Not necessarily that fastest handling, is my experience.

I am glad to hear there is interest . It is certainly a lot of changes from anything we've be using before, but it should also be intuitive enough to be able to ease into, I hope. tThere is no need to go wild with any of the basic settings really. Go as low with the buffer size as you can without crackles, and just try everything out. You have my videos, but if there is something else, don't hesitate to ask. I haven't covered everything yet! 😀👍

@@lofileif FYI, there’s a good bit of Windows users floating around out there interested. I have in the past few years somewhat completely converted to amp and speaker/cab modeling via Fractal Audio Systems and I know of more than a few people in this group/forum who are always looking for better ways to midi their guitar and go beyond the norm. Jam Origin has been a topic of discussion and some are using MG2 via iOS device. I have mentioned MG3 and I will do so now that there is a Window beta available. I know a few that have stayed with hardware solutions for the time being, but will love what will be available down the road with MG3 and Windows. Thanks again!

I am sure there are a lot of potential Windows users. I am just a bit puzzled by the lack of engagement here, now. As i said in the video, I have had to answer the ”When Windows”? question so many times now, and now when I can finally point to something happening, it is like noone cares. I expected something else, and will act in accordance going forward! 👍

@@lofileif I can’t speak for everybody else, but personally have considered waiting until official beta. Probably will end up giving into testing this week anyway though 😂 We can install this version separately for testing & still be able to use MG2 per usual, correct?

Those are two completely different pieces of software. I still use MG2 for a couple of things that hasn't made its way into MG3 yet. Som MIDI Machines Lua scripts. So yes, you'll have both to use side by side if you like. 👍

16???😱😱😱 I have an M1 Studio Max Mac, and I don't go below 128 (Multi-thread). 😅 Not saying I can't, just saying I don't. What plugins/synths are you using? Diva on all three chains?

@@lofileif I was playing around with a single PianoTeq8, it behaved perfectly at 16 samples, I was just stress testing the standalone version, in a DAW environment I will probably need to go higher. I have been chasing low latency for a long time, it took a lot of testing till I found the combination that will allow me to go low. Scarlett 2i2, Reaper, important a Video card with AMD chipset, all advanced features disabled and an optimized Windows 10. This for PC only I do not know anything about Macs.

@@PvtGrips-vh7ti Video card is a resource heavy device that keeps "talking" to the CPU all he time, these "interruptions" competing for the CPU attention with the audio interface. Why do AMD drivers behave better than NVidia I do not know but they clearly "interfere" less allowing you to achieve lower latency.

You’ll have to make do with the forum discussions, I’m afraid. I don’t have a PC myself. I am just mentioning that the BETA is here in its absolutely first version. And there are of course going to be issues with it. So please check in with what is said on the forum. 👍

This is great news. Even though I won't be able to do much about it at the time being. Heavy construction work takes most of the time, and when the day is over I'm just totalled. 😉 But there will be other times when this work is done. 😊👍

With MPE everything changes. There is no need for those kinds of tuning categories anymore. But the extended range instruments are still something of a problem for the tracker because the startingpoint of the analysis of a notes pitch is determined by the notes wavelength. So it is still not determined how low the tracker will be able to go, and still deliver something like an acceptable polyphonic output. You’ll have to wait a little for the last word on that, I am afraid. 👍

Hi Ron! You can use MIDI Guitar 2 in at least three different ways: 1) As standalone, loading any instruments from the INSTRUMENTS slot, and adding some effects to the signal chain too, and 2) You can use the Standalone instance to connect to a DAW, but it is easier for the Mac users , since MG2 creates a virtual MIDI connection on Mac, whereas the PC users will have to find a MIDI routing system that works (check the forum if you are looking for that solution - I am on Mac, so I can't tell which is the best solution for PC users nowadays). jamosapien.com 3) Use the plugin version that comes with the software to work with MG2 in your DAW. You probably need to do a scan for new plugins, but after that your DAW will show that plugin in the a valuable plugins list as an AUDIO track FX.

Thank you! I haven't used Reaper myself, so I can't be all that specific. But traditionally, for most DAWs you set up MG2 on an audio track and your software instrument on a MIDI track, and then it is a little depending on which platform you are using (Mac or PC), and what version of the plugin (AU or VST) you are using. It is not clear to me what you are asking for here? You want to use something like an (pedal) audio interface without MIDI connectivity together with an iPhone? And want to know how to get MIDI out to something. Sure, Bluetooth can work to both send and receive MIDI, but if you are choosing something over something else because of sturdiness, I can't in good conscience recommend a Bluetooth solution. I have some more powerful WiFi Pandamidi Midibeam solution that I would use personally, which also has the added bonus of having MIDI Din (5-pin) connectivity. But the wireless connection is one way I believe, and powering it from an iPhone isn't in any way a minimal footprint setup (if at all possible) so no, I don't have a great solution for what you are asking for I am afraid. Jag har jobbat med utveckligsversionen förstås, men allt du kan se i mina tio senaste videos är olika versioner av betan som är släppt för Mac endast, i nuläget. Har inget datum för släppet av den "färdiga" versionen, eftersom detta är ett arbete under utveckling. Och eftersom alla som redan investerat i MG2 får den här uppdateringen gratis så tycker jag nog att JamOrigin gör rätt som inte kastar ut någon skitversion bara för att ha något ute på marknaden. Kolla länken till betasidan i videobeskriviningen för allt nytt. 2. Det är tanken. Vet inte om alla funktioner du ser nu kan följa med, men det blir vi varse snart. 3. Självklart! Den kommer i två delar, ett fristående Program och dels som plugin. Och alla presets du sparar går att öppna i båda versionerna. I den här videon finns exempel på plugin versionen i Logic t.ex.

Du öppnar Pluginen som en EFFEKT på ett AUDIO spår. Jag jobbar på DAW guides. Det kommer att finnas framöver. 4. Det finns latency, ja, men du kommer troligen inte att uppleva att det ör mer än i FTP: n. Den gör ju trots allt en konvertering från ljud till MIDI också. De läsningar som kommer att kännas snabbare än MG3 är sådana som inte involverar pitch-to-MIDI teknik. Fretscanning, eller någon framtida modellering av din gitarrton som inte översätter utan bara gör om. Finns inga vettiga alternativ att tala om än, men AI borde kunna vara behjälpligt med sådana lösningar. Prova demon, när den finns på en platform som du använder. Den finns nu för Mac användare.

Har du testat att styra instrument in MG2 i standalone läge också?

Men det borde gå att reda ut tycker jag (brasklapp: jag är Mac användare primärt så skulle det vara en PC grej, så har jag ingen aning.) Men vi börjar i början; Har du SWAM instrument? Isåfall, har du fått dom att funka alls (dvs vad använder du för deras krav på EXPRESSION input? Om inte SWAM, vilket instrument har du?

@@jannejohansson3296Ok, då börjar vi där. Öppna ett av dina SWAM instrumenten i MG2 i standalone läget. Gå till INTERFACE, klicka och kolla vad du har i CONTROL i MIDI INTERFACE rutan. Om du har BBC2 inkopplad till datorn bör du kunna välja den där. Klicka sen på SWAM instrumentet, för att kunna välja MIDI MAPPING från deras PRESETS. Ta Breath Controller default och ställ in MG2 på en pitchbendrange = 2. Inget legato, det sabbar pitch bends funktionen. Det borde funka nu. Vi går vidare om du får det där att funka först.

Well, I can only assume there will be some sort of full features manual at some point, but as this is what we call a ”levande dokument” in Sweden, there is still no set number of functions to take into consideration for such a document and it is going to have to be done after the completion of the software itself. But I will of course try to stay on top of all the changes and additions and continuously deliver guidance to the best of my abilities. 👍

Hi Francesco! I know for a fact that it doesn’t track any notes below D2, and hence is not suitable for extended range instruments. MG3 might be a better match, but it is still not decisively proven yet either, I am afraid. You can run MIDI Bass in tandem with MG2 to get acess to the lower range strings though. But be aware that MIDI Bass itself is monophonic, so no low chords on the two lower strings (for 8 string).
